Cthulhu is a giant squid-like creature created by H.P. Lovecraft in his short horror story “The Call of Cthulhu”. Cthulhu is a Great Old One which in Lovecraftian Lore is a god. Cthulhu has the head of a squid, large bat wings, and an enormous, monstrous body. Cthulhu’s name is said to be unpronounceable by human tongue so we pronounce it the best we can. Cthulhu is said to be asleep deep in the Pacific Ocean waiting to wake up to destroy humanity. People believe that the famous “Bloop” sound could be Cthulhu.

Great Old Ones aren’t gods, they are the children of Outer Gods according to some sources, but are just ancient aliens with really good PR.
