Irregular update 23/9/17
Posted on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 at 11:44I thought it was about time to do another update, and let you know what exactly is going on in my life.
Things are busy and more than a little stressful right now, because of some family stuff that I don’t really want to get into. Although, the end is in sight, and things will hopefully be resolved by Halloween or at the very latest Christmas.
So right now I’m working on the third “With Strange Aeons” book, “The Hunger in the Sky” which is a major change of gears from the previous books in this series, as it focuses on a single character, and is much more sci-fi and cosmic horror based, than the others.
A major plot point is time-travel… Just to give you some idea how different to the others it is. While, it slots neatly in between “The Wrath of Atlantis” and “The Shadow Over…” in terms of the plot, and character development, but due to the time-travel themes, it sits alongside them in chronology. Makes it a very interesting book to write. I hope it will make it an interesting read too.
I’ve got a world building T13 game once a month that is slowly piecing together the plot and background for “Paradox Warriors” (wish that was happening faster but there’s no way to accelerate it – short of getting a new group together to play…)
My kids are getting older and have started wanting to roleplay. So I’ve dug out D&D version 3.5 and introduced the two of them to the hobby. Currently they are playing two churchmen (Jayser, a paladin – of the knight templar style and Lysander a Chorister – which is a lawful Bard type) and they’ve been exploring Churchlands in a high fantasy world that might make a good place for a fantasy series. I made them both play god-fearing types as they are both self proclaimed atheists and I thought it might do them some good to play a pantheonist of some sort.
Maybe I’ll write down some of their adventures sometime… Perhaps a short story or two…
I should also be planning and plotting “HyperTroll” but haven’t managed to even look over my notes since the summer. I might get around to it in the not too distant future, if I can get a few other things that aren’t book related sorted out. But for now it’s on hold.
I’m hoping to start up some writing and roleplaying tips in the near future and have a few science in science-fiction posts that need writing soon, as well as a new feature idea that works a little more like my Popcorn Paradoxes posts over at the Time Travel Nexus a sort of Watsonian take on the technologies and themes of major films (focusing on each film or TV franchise individually). I’m not sure when I’ll get the first one out (it might be a while yet, depending on family stuff, but it will be coming).
So that’s what I’m up to. Let me know what you think, and if you haven’t read the first two “With Strange Aeons” go buy them now, they are available on Kindle, iPad, Nook, Kobo, etc, and as paperbacks.
They’re really good and completely fresh, so go get a copy now!
